The added focus on Dexterity will more than compensate for your character's lighter armor, and Cunning has a host of benefits including higher critical damage, better lockpicking and disarming, improved coercion, and better mental resistance. Strength should only be upgraded for the sake of better armor, and the best light armor in Origins only requires 20 strength. When you level up your character's attributes, focus almost exclusively on Dexterity and Cunning.
Unlike most of the "mini-campaign" DLCs, Leliana's Song is relatively spoiler-free I'd recommend doing it any time after finishing her personal quest.
